Job Description SummaryThe Major Component Exchange (MCE) Field Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance, large component replacement, and repair of wind turbine generators throughout the United StatesJob DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesAs the Major Component Exchange (MCE)Field Specialist, you will:Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch / variable speed turbinesHelp in all areas of site preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervisionDocument all work performed using computer based service reporting proceduresCommunicate site status to engineers, customers, and managementQualifications/RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of 4 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician OR Minimum of 6 years of related experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, REN energy or similar fieldEligibility RequirementsAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 90% of the time, as requiredAbility and willingness to operate heavy equipmentAbility and willingness to signal and rig loads up to 100 tonsAbility and willingness to work and climb heights a minimum of 300ftAbility to meet specific OSHA weight limits of 250 to 300lbs maxAbility and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseAbility and willingness to handle repetitive weight - 50 lbsAbility and willingness to work in all weather conditionsAbility and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilitiesAbility and willingness to be available for rotation shift schedules 24 hours, seven days a weekDesired CharacteristicsBachelors Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or universityTechnical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic fieldAbility to read and understand electrical schematic drawingsAbility to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind FarmWind turbine experienceAbility and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervisionAbility and willingness to read, interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulationsAbility to write reports, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measureElectrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experienceExperience using hydraulic power toolsExperience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirementsProficient computers skills in Excel, Word, Web ToolsStrong customer service mindsetStrong organizational skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsThe base pay range for this position is $25.96 - $41.70. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for annual merit increases based on performance.
