Patient Companion Supplemental Staffing Services-Per-Diem

Job description

To sit with and observe patients who are deemed to be a safety risk if left unattended. #To summon assistance to prevent patient injury when needed. Performs hand hygiene appropriately. Follows all isolation precautions according to policy and procedures. Assists with feeding patient. Assists patient with walking when needed. Maintains a safe environment for the patient. Accompanies patient for tests, procedures and transfers. Remains in line of sight of assigned patients at all times. Interacts with patients and families in a calm and reassuring manner. Provides non-clinical assistance to patients, such as adjusting television or reaching for an object. Acts immediately to mitigate a risk situation. Promptly alerts co-workers when assistance is needed to maintain a safe environment. Reports patient problems, patient incidents, or changes in patient status to a Registered Nurse or supervisor. Monitors and documents patient behavior. Completes all necessary documentation. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required Communication and interpersonal skills required Previous hospital or health care experience preferred
