Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The position is for a skilled data manager with a background in data science, population health statistics, and health information technology. The Data Analyst will be responsible for quantitative data collection and summarization of data. The Analyst will generate the coding to create outcomes reports and project dashboards to monitor progress toward goals. The Data Analyst will serve as a consultant to researchers to develop and execute data analysis plans. Will also work closely with clinical quality improvement teams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Data Management

  • Works with the operations team and clinic staff to assure efficient data collection in compliance with all prevailing internal and external policies and regulations
  • Assists clinical data team to improve clinical data procurement and processing
  • Assures accuracy and reliability of patient health record data
  • Ensures data integrity, safety, security and compliance
  • Collaborates with clinical operations and health information systems teams to deploy new software (Tableau)
  • Oversees data acquisition via export from electronic health records and import to analytic and visualization software
  • Works closely with business intelligence team to align program needs and organizational policies and procedures for data acquisition and use
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to optimize hardware and software acquisition and utilization

Data Analysis
  • Serves as a statistical consultation to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assists in designing protocols, developing data analysis plans for health-related research.
  • Assists with data coding and data entry procedures.
  • Analyze clinical or survey data using statistical approaches such as longitudinal analysis, mixed effect modeling, logistic regression analyses, and model building techniques.
  • Analyze archival data such as birth, death, and disease records.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements and evaluates analytic strategies to support clinical quality assurance and quality improvement goals
  • Establishes and monitors key performance metrics
  • Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies

Technical Support and Reporting
  • Plans and generates narrative and quantitative reports to support program goals
  • Maintains and regularly reports activities, progress, and outcomes
  • Provides weekly progress reports of results, barriers, and mitigation
  • Trains team members and provides technical support in data analysis methods and software
  • Researches and recommends new technologies to enhance team performance
  • Participants in trainings to advance personal knowledge and skills related to program objectives

QUAILIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors in field related to health information systems or health administration. May substitute experience for education.

Experience:

At least 1 year of experience with data analysis and experience with some of the primary software packages used in research including: SPSS, Tableau, R, STATA, SAS, REDCap, and Qualtrics. At least 1 year SQL preferred. Strong data analysis background. Experience working in a healthcare setting .and/or public health informatics. Excellent communication skills (written & oral). Proficient in Microsoft software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.). Technical skills include knowledge of database languages such as SQL, R, or Python; spreadsheet tools such as REDCap, Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets; and data visualization software such as Tableau or Qlik. Mathematical and statistical skills are also valuable to help gather, measure, organize, and analyze data.
