The Opportunity

The Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP), which operates the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program, is a 501(c)(3) that assists over 4,300 qualified families in moving from areas of concentrated poverty and obtaining quality and affordable housing in communities with strong schools, low crime, and ample job opportunities in high opportunity areas within Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.

BRHP seeks a Special Projects Coordinator who supports BRHP s mission and purpose and will support the organization in implementation of special initiatives, including the grant funded Healthy Children Voucher Demonstration. The position requires someone that can serve as an organization-wide influencer and who has competencies in both organizational macro-level and programmatic micro-level matters. This position reports to the Managing Director for Research and Innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work for the Special Projects Coordinator. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between BRHP and the Housing Authority of Baltimore City to coordinate efforts related to the implementation of the Healthy Children Voucher Demonstration, a 3-year funded effort to link housing voucher holders who could benefit from a healthier home environment with housing mobility counseling through referrals from healthcare providers.
  • Organize and facilitate regular internal and external progress meetings with grant administrator, voucher administrator, evaluation team, and other parties.
  • Complete and ensure periodic grant reports summarizing the project progress, outcomes, and expenditures are submitted to all private funders within time limitations specified.
  • Serve as key team member in rolling out new initiatives and special projects, using project management principles, cross-team coordination meetings and developing internal and external materials to be used in roll out.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, training documents, and other collateral to implement new initiatives at the organization.
  • Collaborate with BRHP team members and external stakeholders in the planning and execution of external communications and events related to Healthy Children Voucher Demonstration and other special initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with external partners and formalize partnerships to advance BRHP's work.
  • Present to external audiences at conferences, trainings, and other industry events.
  • Advise executive leadership on assets needed to implement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and assist in preparation of budgets and financial grant reports.
  • Ability to be discreet with sensitive information that may be needed for some grants such as employee salaries or upcoming projects.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in related field required (i.e. Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Policy, etc.) or 8 years of experience in grant management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with a Housing Choice Voucher program, other affordable housing program, housing advocacy organization, or advocacy organization focused on populations with low incomes.
  • Some experience in grant management and grant writing experience.
  • Project management experience.
