Avionics Technician

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform modifications, upgrades, and installations of avionics systems on Army Global 6500 aircraft according to engineering specifications and technical manuals.
  • Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of avionics equipment to identify and repair defects or malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for accurate installation and modification processes.
  • Perform functional and operational tests of avionics systems using specialized test equipment to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Document all maintenance actions, discrepancies, and repairs in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable regulatory and safety standards, including FAA, EASA, and military guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest avionics technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced technicians and apprentices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in avionics, electronics, or related field preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in avionics maintenance and modification, preferably with Global 6500 or similar aircraft.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting avionics schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with a thorough understanding of avionics systems and components.
  • Ability to use a variety of test equipment and hand tools effectively and safely.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance as required by the military.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.

  • Exposure to loud noise, vibrations, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols and guidelines.
