Join our team and be part of a collaborative community that values innovation, personal responsibility, and the power of bottom-up solutions. Together, we will create a society that fosters opportunity, dignity, and well-being for all.

As the Director of Crisis Communications and Reputation Management at Stand Together, you will be responsible for crafting and executing crisis communication strategies that align with our principles. In this role, you will work with leaders from Stand Together and partner organizations to proactively assess long and short-term risks while developing preemptive measures, tools and resources designed to mitigate reputational impact for the Stand Together community. As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, you will support key reputation milestones and announcements.

Your Responsibilities Include
    • Enhance Crisis Communications Capability: Drive the development of robust tools and resources for crisis communications, including statement libraries, media engagement materials, talking points, and escalation procedures, to empower stakeholders in effectively navigating and responding to crises and challenging issues. Continuously refine frameworks based on lessons learned and best practices.
    • Implement Crisis CommunicationsPlans: Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive crisis communication plans. Anticipate potential crises, identify vulnerabilities, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate risks internally and externally.
    • Lead Crisis Response Efforts: Act as the primary point of contact for all crisis communications engagement. Lead response efforts during community-impacting incidents or crises, providing clear direction and guidance to ensure timely and effective communication with key stakeholders and audiences. Own after-action reporting inclusive of measurement to determine effectiveness of response.
    • Media Relations: Monitor media coverage and share with relevant stakeholders, identifying opportunities to engage or correct the record. Build and maintain relationships with reporters to shape the narrative and manage media inquiries effectively. Serve as spokesperson and/or media contact for the Stand Together community on challenging issues, clearly communicating our position and principles to the media.
    • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with legal, finance, human resources, business units, and priority initiative teams on potential engagement and ensure alignment to organizational priorities.

Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in crisis communications, with a proven track record of successfully managing high-profile crises.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages within tight timelines.
    • Deep understanding of media relations and social media dynamics with established reporter relationships across national and political outlets.
    • Keen strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate risks and develop or adapt proactive communication strategies in a constantly changing environment.
    • Experience working in highly matrixed organizations.
    • Willingness and ability to monitor and activate responses based on the 24/7 news and social cycle. This role will require timely engagement as needed to protect the reputation of the community.
    • Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting organizational values.
    • Discretion with highly confidential information.
