Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. The pharmacy technician may be assigned other duties as deemed necessary by their supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
2 to 3 years of pharmacy technician experience. (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.
Ability to work cooperatively with pharmacy and other hospital staff.
Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).
Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and rehabilitation patients.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) District of Columbia Upon Hire (Required)
PTCB (Preferred)
