Background Information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Systems Administrator to be based in our Arlington, VA office.

Overview:

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the company's network and system infrastructure. The Systems Administrator will also provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff. Additionally, the Systems Administrator will work closely with the Security Manager and other IT team members to ensure the security, reliability, and performance of the network and system environment.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage and monitor the company's network and system infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, workstations, and other devices.
  • Perform network and system administration tasks, such as user account management, backup and recovery, patch management, antivirus updates, and software installation.
  • Implement and enforce network and system security policies and best practices, such as firewall rules, access control lists, encryption, authentication, and auditing.
  • Harden and secure network configurations across the environment, using standard guidance like the NIST 800-53 Control Series and DISA STIGs or equivalent guidance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues, such as connectivity problems, performance issues, hardware failures, and security breaches.
  • Document and maintain network and system configurations, diagrams, procedures, and inventory.
  • Research and evaluate new network and system technologies and solutions.
  • Provide technical support and training to users and other IT staff.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network and system emergencies.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in network and system administration, preferably in a Cisco and Windows environment.
  • Certifications in CCNA and Security+ or equivalent.
Required Skills:
  • Experience in a Cisco-managed network environment, including expertise in IOS and NexusOS environments, including Cisco ISE.
  • Strong knowledge of network and system protocols, standards, and technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, WLAN, LAN, WAN, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, SQL, IIS, etc.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, STIGViewer, NIST 800-53 Security Controls, and associated tools/techniques.
  • Proficient in network and system troubleshooting tools and techniques, such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, ipconfig, netstat, telnet, ssh, etc.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to learn new skills and technologies quickly.
