Job Summary

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Park Manager at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park. Hanson Regional Park is the latest regional park for PRCS which opened in September 2022 and offers 257-acres of engaging recreational activities located in Aldie, Virgina. The park is surrounded by three bustling neighborhoods and three local public schools making it a critical hub to serve an expanding and evolving community in Southern Loudoun County

If you have a background with parks, working with natural resources, supervising staff and volunteers, and like to problem solve, this could be the position you've been looking for. Problem solving, communication, adapting to changing situations, thinking strategically, and working collaboratively are key characteristics of a successful candidate. This position requires continual direction and oversight of park operations & programming, budget management, and revenue generation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of a 257-acre regional park.
  • Assists the Parks Division Manager with the implementation of park-wide initiatives.
  • Develops and oversees the budget for operations and programs.
  • Monitors short- and long-term strategic plans for development of park programs and facilities.
  • Develops and deploys appropriate staffing levels for park supervision and customer service.
  • Ensures that park-wide programs and special events are implemented.
  • The performance of other essential job functions that are specific to the position and department assignment may be required.

The work schedule varies following operational hours and may include weekday, evening,
weekend hours, and possible holidays.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field and three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of extensive supervisory experience with facility operational oversight; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with recreation programs and events.
  • Experience managing budgets and revenue generation.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) credential.
  • Certified Leisure Professional (CLP) certification or equivalent.
  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
  • Criminal, credit, and DMV background checks required.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. The driving record of an individual may be reviewed annually for qualification purposes.
  • At the time of hire or within four (4) months of employment, hold First Aid/CPR certifications.
