U.S. Data Security ( USDS ) is a standalone department of TikTok in the U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. Our focus is on providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and user data in the U.S., so millions of Americans can continue turning to TikTok to learn something new, earn a living, express themselves creatively, or be entertained. The teams within USDS that deliver on this commitment daily span Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions and more.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

The USDS Data Defense and Access Assurance - Governance team is responsible for establishing processes around managing the availability, usability, integrity and the security of USDS data to help optimize operations and drive business decision-making.- What data do we have?- Where is the data located?- Who has access to data?- Where does the data go?

The Data Governance Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of USDS data assets. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, implementing and maintaining data governance policies and procedures, and supporting initiatives to enhance data quality and compliance.

ResponsibilitiesData Governance Implementation:- Assist in the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of data governance initiatives with organizational goals.Data Quality Management:- Monitor and assess data quality across various systems and platforms.- Identify data quality issues, investigate root causes, and recommend corrective actions.- Implement and manage data quality metrics and KPIs.Metadata Management:- Establish and maintain metadata standards for key data elements.- Document and manage data lineage, ensuring a clear understanding of data flow and dependencies.Data Classification and Security:- Work with information security teams to classify and categorize data based on sensitivity and compliance requirements.- Participate in data access and security reviews to ensure compliance with data governance policies.Data Privacy and Compliance:- Stay current on data protection regulations and ensure the organization's adherence to relevant data privacy laws.- Support the development and maintenance of data privacy impact assessments.Stakeholder Collaboration:- Engage with business units to understand their data needs and challenges.- Foster a culture of data governance awareness and provide training to internal teams as needed.Data Governance Reporting:- Generate and distribute regular reports on data governance metrics and key performance indicators.- Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Management, Computer Science, Business Analytics).- 2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Knowledge of data quality management tools and techniques.- Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.- Experience with risk and controls frameworks including (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, NIST RMF, FAIR, COBIT, NIST RMF, ISO 31000 etc.) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, IBM InfoSphere).- Certification in data management or data governance.- Familiarity with SQL and database management systems.
