Contracts Manager

Summary

American Coatings Association (ACA) and its affiliate PaintCare Inc. seek a qualified contracts manager to join their in-house Legal Affairs division. The individual in this position will be responsible for tracking and negotiating hundreds of contracts for ACA and its affiliate organizations, most chiefly, PaintCare. PaintCare operates a product stewardship program responsible for the post-consumer collection, recycling, and disposal of post-consumer paint products. Occasional travel (5-10% of time) is required.

About PaintCare

PaintCare is committed to making it easy and convenient for households, businesses, and institutions to recycle postconsumer (leftover) paint in states with paint stewardship laws. A nonprofit organization created by paint manufacturers, PaintCare sets up drop-off locations for leftover paint, arranges for recycling and proper disposal, and conducts public education. More than 70 million gallons of paint, stain, and varnish have been managed by PaintCare in 10 states and the District of Columbia. For additional information, visit

Responsibilities

Coordinating with legal counsel to negotiate contracts with PaintCare program partners, including local government entitiesCoordinating with legal counsel to negotiate various vendor, consultant, and publishing agreements for ACA and PaintCareTracking status of dozens of active contract negotiations and following up with contract partners to keep contract negotiations moving forwardAdministering completed contracts, including tracking renewal deadlines and obtaining insurance certificatesManaging SalesForce database to organize and track thousands of completed contractsVarious other duties to support the legal needs of ACA and PaintCarePerform additional duties as needed

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Minimum five years of contract management and/or negotiation experience; 10+ years of experience preferred (in-house experience is a plus)Knowledge of one or more of the following is a plus:

environmental law and regulation (solid and hazardous waste regulation is a strong plus)

product stewardship issuesthe paint and coatings industrynon-profit organizations (trade associations is a strong plus)negotiating contracts with state and local governmentspublishing and copyright agreementsantitrust lawExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities for multiple stakeholders and to manage stakeholder relationships without undue supervision

Location and Travel

This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely). This position will be expected to travel for work events a few times per year within the US.

Employment, Salary and Benefits

This is a full time, regular position. Salary is dependent on experience, but on estimate can range from $90,000 to $125,000.
