What you'll do:

We are seeking an individual with a growth mindset to build and execute initiatives to support the commercialization and venture creation, specifically out of Federal labs and research institutions. Projects will include supporting novel new incubation programs for innovations in the energy, climate and health/bio sectors.

Some examples of what you'll do:
  • Standup new venture incubation programs that provide tailored services for early-stage ventures within FedTech's portfolio
  • Identify areas of latent demand within defense and civilian markets that can be addressed with Federally funded R&D
  • Advise deep tech startups as they build their operations (e.g., business model development) and progress through the 'valley of death'
  • Identify and engage new support organizations and individuals that can provide incubation services to the early stage ventures we support
  • Support multi-tiered entrepreneurship education and coaching programs that have a major impact on the success of commercializing research and innovation within the government labs and other organizations
  • Support inventors and entrepreneurs with product development due diligence, company formation and funding
  • Develop presentations, reports and content using creative software such as Beautiful.ai, Canva, etc.
  • Manage project plans, stay extremely organized and focused on details of program execution
  • Research industry and markets to help advise market timing and trends.
  • Job sharing with other programs within our portfolio to create program synergies and build your expertise
  • Participate in professional development activities like human centered design, new product development, business/finance and entrepreneurship.

  • An ability to translate R&D technology-speak into customer value proposition, use case development, etc.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience involving innovation and/or product development and/or with consulting/research supplier (research, design and innovation) OR business admin/analysis/finance
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree
  • Working knowledge of human-centered design/design research, agile & lean startup principles, product development best practices, business models evaluation/development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders (e.g., scientist, corporate executive, entrepreneur, investor, government, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can work under tight deadlines with a positive attitude.
  • Medium to expert level in Excel and other MS Office software. Must be fluent in modern office software.
  • Tech savvy. Expert in a handful of SAAS systems and interested in learning more.
  • Deeply curious, empathetic, and methodical.

Compensation:
  • Base salary range - 70000 - 90000 based on education and experience
  • Ability to earn upside bonus and equity, rapid career progression

Location:

Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in person at our headquarters in Arlington, VA and 2 days remote).
