What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will serve as Causal Modeling resident expert and power our ambition to evolve our predictive modeling paradigm from correlative models augmented with post-hoc explanations to causal models featuring integrated interpretability and support for interventional, prescriptive and counterfactual analyses. Candidates should possess: 1) direct and rich experience developing causal models, using such models to deliver prescriptive and actionable insights, and ideally turning models into actively used products, 2) substantial theoretical knowledge of the field and ability to translate said knowledge into practical know-how, and 3) familiarity with the biopharma or healthcare industries. Additional desirable capabilities include machine learning model design and development (descriptive/predictive/generative), mechanistic mathematical modeling, and ability to supervise and mentor team members. Culturally, a collaborative approach, a strong engagement and an overt sense of ownership are paramount to success.

Responsibilities
  • Be a technical authority, hands-on leader, and mentor in the design, development, and utilization of causal models, including causal discovery, causal inference, and causal reasoning.
  • Combine understanding of the biopharmaceutical/healthcare and AI/data/technology landscapes to fuel innovation and foster initiatives demonstrating the differentiating impact of causal models.
  • Translate scientific/clinical/medical/business problems into analytical ones and map out solutions, delivery, and impact.
  • Communicate effectively and influence a diverse set of technical, scientific, medical, and business constituents at the functional and executive levels.
  • Be a technical guide and career development mentor to junior staff in data science or similar roles in a formal or matrixed fashion.
  • Help further the team, including by contributing technical and leadership methodologies, and staying on top of developments in industry and academia.
