Hybrid: 3 days in office/2 days WFH


Our client is looking to hire a Litigation Paralegal for their Supreme Court and Appellate practice group in the Washington, DC office. Candidates should have at least 7 (seven) years experience. This detail-oriented individual would be responsible for supporting attorneys within this group in the practice areas such as civil rights, immigration, and criminal defense.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Review recent court decisions and identify cases for review by the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Cite check, Bluebook and proofread all briefs for Appellate Court and U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Assist with drafting of legal documents including motions, appendices, factual sections of briefs, case summaries and related documents.
  • Filing of documents with various courts and government agencies.
  • Conduct legal and factual research.
  • Organize, index and maintain case files.
  • Maintain docket calendar to ensure timely filings.
  • Manage discovery and trial support.
  • Manage preparation and maintenance of databases in preparation for Federal Courts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • At least 7 (seven) years of experience as a litigation paralegal, ideally from a mid to large law firm.
  • Strong Bluebook and cite checking skills.
  • E-filing experience using CM/ECF and state court equivalents.
  • Strong proficiency with Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Knowledge of Relativity, PACER, CaseMap, TextMap, LiveNote and CompuLaw.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or fluctuating hours.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.


EDUCATION:


4-year college degree with high academic achievement.
