CareFirst, Inc. ( the Company or CareFirst ) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a global search for an Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary.

Company: CareFirst, Inc., and its affiliated companies, generally referred to as CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield ( CareFirst ), is the Mid-Atlantic region s largest private-sector health insurer, serving the healthcare needs of 3.5 million members in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and portions of Northern Virginia. The Company offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and services to individuals and groups, as well as local, state and federal government-sponsored plans.

Overview: Responsible for the oversight of the Office of Corporate Counsel, Public Policy and Government Affairs functions, the EVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary coordinates the legal representation and corporate governance needs of CareFirst, Inc., its affiliates and subsidiaries, and serves as the key legal advisor to the CEO and Senior Management in determining corporate legal posture and interests of the Company.

Experience: At least 12-15 years of progressively responsible legal, managerial, and leadership experience, preferably in a health insurance or another highly regulated industry. The successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in navigating the legislative and regulatory frameworks by maintaining and enhancing credible relationships with regulators and legislators.

Location: Baltimore, MD or Washington, D.C. Travel between the dual headquarters will be required.

Relocation: Yes, this is a national search. The executive team is in the office several days a week. Remote candidates will not be considered.

Compensation: Generous compensation package commensurate with experience. The package includes base salary, target bonus, long term incentive, and other executive level benefits.
