TITLE: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's Degree or Operations-related certification preferred
Successful experience in a supervisory position
Knowledge of school bus operations, maintenance, upkeep of facilities and grounds, food service, contracted services, and school safety
Knowledge of construction of facilities
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
Good health, physical stamina, fitness and vitality
Such alternatives to the above that the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
In possession of a Class B CDL license with school bus and passenger endorsement, or willing to obtain
Transportation and/or safety and security experience preferred.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
JOB GOAL: Lead the maintenance, care, and upkeep of the buildings, vehicles, equipment, and grounds owned by the board of education and may be responsible for the operation of transportation, food service, school and employee safety, contract services, all clerical work, and the day-to-day district operations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, purchase materials and supervise the maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds and maintenance equipment.
Supervise the development and management of a preventive and routine maintenance plan for facilities, equipment, and systems.
Provide input with developing and managing public bid contracts for facilities and grounds.
Supervise the purchase of inventory for all custodial and maintenance supplies.
Direct the development, implementation, and management of custodial written procedures and work-related standards for operating district facilities.
Provide input into the development of the annual budget for Operations including capital improvements.
Supervise Operations including the transportation coordinator, head cooks, head custodians, and classified staff.
Receive emergency calls and take whatever appropriate action is necessary to protect the building, grounds, equipment, and systems which belong to the Board of Education.
Provide support to the schools/departments as needed.
Supervise the preparation of all necessary records and reports.
Regularly report safety and security hazards to the Director of Operations and identify clear methods or means necessary to correct the hazards.
Manage the work of outside contractors to ensure compliance with purchase orders and contracts and report deviations and discrepancies.
Supervise and evaluate the operation of the transportation department through the transportation coordinator.
Administer relevant sections of the employee contract.
Provide input with organizing summer repair and maintenance programs and schedules.
Assist with developing an ongoing plan for maintenance and custodial care of buildings and grounds as well as an in-service effort to improve the skills of custodians and/or maintenance employees.
Works cooperatively with the school resource officers and other city and county officials.
Perform the job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
Excellent observation and communication skills
May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students
Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
Frequent evening and/or weekend work
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve(12) month, 260-day contract with salary as established by the Board in terms of the Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
