Located in our new North Patient Tower, these advanced facilities will allow us to continue to deliver exceptional birth experiences for years to come. The Labor and Delivery Unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital has 12 labor and delivery beds and 3 C-section suites, supporting approximately 2400 births a year. This position is PRN.

Job Responsibilities:

* The Surg Tech 2 demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and is able to anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure.

* Can demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.

* Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.

* Keeps the circulating nurse informed of upcoming patient care needs.

* Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique.

* Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field and applies principles of asepsis.

* Demonstrates collaboration with other team members in planning/giving patient care.

* Serves as a resource in at least 2 specialty areas/procedures.

* Actively shares knowledge with staff regarding instrument sets/techniques and procedures.

* Performs in preceptor role for new & experienced staff in the scrub role.

* Provides working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation, equipment.

Position Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred

* 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist

* Surgical Technologist registration required

* Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.

* BLS via AHA required

* Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT preferred
