Commission Analyst, Broker & Agent Compensation

Job description

Reporting Line: Manager, Intermediaries Commission and Ongoing payments

Perform designated tasks in the area of Customer Accounting with a focus on the preparation of Agent and Broker Compensation.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Agent Compensation

  • Perform monthly review, paying particular attention to detail, of the agent compensation and present to the Regional Head of Policy Administration, Head of the Direct Sales and the Regional MMCD Director.
  • Submit the agent compensation for payment and review the monthly statements for accuracy prior to mailing.
  • Answer and resolve queries and issues from Agents in a timely manner. Provide support to agents in response to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions & commission calculations.
  • Perform updates of agent compensation plans
  • Correct agent commissions and submit for approval
  • Perform new agent compensation plan set-up.
  • Handle confidential information appropriately
  • Perform annual and quarterly audit of agents draws

Broker Compensation

  • Perform monthly review, paying particular attention to detail, of the broker compensation and present to the Regional Head of Policy Administration, Head of the Direct Sales and the Regional MMCD Director
  • Submit the broker compensation for payment and review the monthly statements
  • Review and approval of direct broker payment proposals and apply direct broker payments
  • Answer and resolve queries and issues from brokers in a timely manner.
  • Perform updates of broker classification, correct commissions and submit for approval

Projects

  • Take responsibility for complex projects. define the scope, schedule and monitor the progress of tasks via regular reporting to management.
  • Prepare documentation as requested by auditors and regulators.
  • Participate in regression testing as needed for the launch of new products, processes and compensation structures.
  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiency with processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree. Advanced degree or CPA a plus.
  • >5 years work experience.
  • Accounting and technical know-how, basis for understanding of accounting, and advanced technical systems.
  • Experience working in multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Deal with complex topics, analyze data from different sources
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues and address them
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high volume setting, thanks to strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work through stressful situations effectively.
  • High level of initiative & ability to be autonomous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
