Company Overview


A leading investment management and strategic advisory firm with a dynamic and client-first culture is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an in-house position, working internally for the firm's corporate tax department.


Position Summary


The Senior Tax Accountant will join the Baltimore office, focusing on tax compliance, reporting, and leading strategic tax projects. This role was created due to internal growth and offers rewarding career development opportunities within the corporate tax function of a global independent investment management and strategic advisory firm.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with external tax preparers.
  • Assist Tax Managers with planning and managing the income tax compliance for the firm and firm-sponsored PE feeder and alternative investment funds.
  • First-level review of US income tax returns and provisions prepared by external tax preparers.
  • Maintain audit-ready work papers and streamline tax compliance processes.
  • Assist in reviewing and delivering approximately 15,000 K-1s related to the firm s holding company and 250+ PE feeder and alternative investment funds.
  • Liaise with the Equity Team and Client Service Teams to gather partner demographic data, including W-9 and W-8BEN forms, partner transfers, and state filing information.
  • Coordinate with the Fund Administration team and third-party fund administrator concerning accounting packages, partner allocations, underlying fund K-1s, investor information, and other necessities for PE feeder and alternative investment funds tax preparation.
  • Assist in preparing personal property tax returns and other ad-hoc regulatory filings.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Accounting & Finance, Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, Technology, and external tax advisors.
  • Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on complex tax matters.
  • Stay updated by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.


Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of public accounting or in-house tax experience.
  • Bachelor s degree in accounting, taxation, law, or a related field.
  • CPA License preferred.
  • Experience with Corporate or Partnership Tax Compliance.
  • Excellent tax research skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
