Position Title: Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Must be on-site in McLean, VA (T,W,TH)

Duration: 12 Months Temp to Hire

Position Overview:

Database Services seeking Senior Database Engineer who is responsible for database administration( cloud and on -prem) in a fast-paced operations environment supporting 24x7 business critical applications using analytical and transactional databases having Oracle expertise on new cutting-edge technologies -- Cloud and VMC platforms. Database Engineer will be able to script and automate on-prem & cloud database activities, perform troubleshooting on any database issue, performance analysis, ensuring database security, evaluating new database trends and technologies, developing and testing automation scripting and coding required for database administration and associated database tools. Skill and expertise required in Oracle and Aurora Postgres platforms.

Must Have Skills:

• 10 plus years experience with oracle.
• 3 years experience with Aurora.
• 5+ years experience with Shell scripts OR Ansible.
• 2+ Cloud Development - CFTs and Lambda

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide DBA support on all aspects of databases administration including provisioning, backup/recovery, replication, deployment and real time production troubleshooting responsibilities on Oracle and Aurora Postgres.
• Provide 24x7 on call DBA support for production environment on rotation schedule and on adhoc need basis.
• Interact with Systems administrators on Linux/Unix/VM operating systems issues related to Databases.
• Support data replication and Sharding.
• Utilize AWS services to develop and automate cloud-based solutions.
• Leverage AWS Lambda for automation tasks like DB provisioning, deletion etc.

Basic Requirements:

• More than 10 years of experience in Database administration.
• Solid hands-on experience (3-5+ years) with Aurora Postgres.
• Extensive Database performance tuning experience.
• Good experience with AWS Cloud and Linux/VM platform
• Expertise in automation via AWS CFT/ Lamda functions ( 3+ years).
• Deep understanding of HA, DR Database and storage technologies Data replication.
• Experience implementing, supporting and auditing database security.
• Hands on automation experience with Python, YAML, Unix Shell scripting, etc.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience supporting Oracle on prem and Aurora Postgres on AWS.
• Experience with AWS CFT development.
