Accounting Manager Payroll

Job description

Embassy Suites Georgetown is looking to hire an Accounting Manager Payroll! This role will provide support and assist the Assistant Director of Finance and the Area Director of Finance of the day to day financials of the hotel plus handling payroll processes.

Essential Functions

* Responsible for accurately processed payroll for both properties

* Perform general accounting functions, including operation of general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work.

* Analyze financial information, call attention to trends, collect information and prepare reports.

* Create periodic and ad hoc journal entries.

* Communicate with all departments to ensure proper and timely payroll processing

* Responsible for payroll journal entries

* Prepare monthly property bills for all 3rd party vendors.

* Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.

* Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, manage business risks, and improve operations and profitability.

* Assists in maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance and contracts.

* Assist employees and third parties with accounting related inquiries

* Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.

* Fill in and support coworkers and team as needed to ensure efficient operation.

* Perform duties, special assignments and projects as requested by management.

Qualifications

* Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

* Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

* Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to financial matters.

* Ability to attend to guests, associates and management in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner which requires strong customer service as well as written and oral communication skills.

* Must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job.

* Outstanding organizational and time management skills.

* Ability to multitask and prioritize and delegate daily workload.

* Ability to handle sensitive material with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.

* Must be energetic, a self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

* Must be detail-oriented and able to work both independently and with a team.

* Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying inquiries made by hotel staff.

* Ability to prepare correspondence and meet deadlines.

* Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating hotel or operational needs.

* Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform/attire and nametag.

* Comply with company, hotel and brand standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

* Employee must be able to maintain standards of attendance and punctuality and must be able to work varying schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.

Education & Experience:

* 2+ years of progressive experience in an accounting position in hospitality or similar industry.

* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

* Intermediate proficiency in the use of Accounting, Point of Sales and Property Management Systems.
