Clinical Research Nurse

Job description

Job Summary

The Clinical Research Nurse will work closely with the physician in executing clinical research projects in various departments including ED, Cath Lab, ICU, EP lab, Step down, OR, and ambulatory areas. The role involves facilitating patient enrollment, managing research related care, and ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal communication skills, be detail-oriented and have excellent clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect clinical data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform required procedures and data collection activities
  • Establish primary clinical contacts for study sponsor, patient, family, and other healthcare contacts/departments
  • Verify all data points are supported by medical records, physician notes, diagnostic reports, procedural summaries, or research project documents
  • Deliver data that is accurate and complete, matching source and data entry information
  • Foster physician oversight of all data and follow-up with sponsors on patient progress/status
  • Facilitate and support patient enrollment and participation in clinical trials
  • Coordinate critical research tasks and patient activities
  • Maintain the control of drug/device inventory per log or other acceptable documentation
  • Perform in-patient care duties associated with the project
  • Provide nursing knowledge and decision-making support to non-RN research team members
  • Serve as a Representative of the NCH Research Institute and be an internal and external resource for questions referencing clinical research at NCH

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Critical Care/Cardiology preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification preferred from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Intermediate computer knowledge
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
