Under the guidance of the Chief Operating Officer, the

Director, PMO , leads the PMO department and is primarily responsible for designing the framework within which projects are created, managed, and completed. The Senior Director will create methodologies, standards, and dependencies according to which projects are designed and delivered.

The

Director, PMO

will create project plans, assign resources, track progress, resolve issues, and communicate and partner with stakeholders throughout the process and project life cycle. This position is responsible for hiring, onboarding, and leading a team of project managers ensuring maximum business efficiencies. This role helps the organization deliver on the highest strategic priorities of IDSA and provides overall governance by establishing standard quality controls, processes, and tools used for effective and efficient project delivery.

The Director takes ownership and is accountable for creating, organizing, and implementing the strategies and business programs and is responsible for making sure the related projects are completed on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate is well-versed in driving project success and organizational growth by providing strategic direction and leadership, while simultaneously setting up the infrastructure, processes, and procedures necessary to support effective project management across the organization.

Qualifications

Characteristic Essential Responsibilities:

Project Management: Overall Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of PMO project demand, portfolio, roadmap and lifecycle

Provides vision, strategic leadership and acts as thought partner to sponsors and staff

Facilitates change management process

Reviews documentation for project creation, development, and implementation

Manages PMO resources, tools, project budgets, and reporting

Provides oversight to ensure projects are completed according to plan and SOW

Manages daily operations activities and planning; leverage and maximize staffing and resources

Provides accountability and quality control for all projects and trainings

Creates reports and deliver proof of strategic contribution of projects to LT and other stakeholders

Plans and manages multiple internal and external projects; review and approve SOW s

Acts as a point of escalation for any project related activity

Continuous process improvement; review and update existing procedures

PMO Management: Framework Development Framework Development

Collaborates with Leadership Team to develop the PMO including goals, objectives, and ways of working

Establishes a project governance structure including the design and development of PMO Charter and PMO scope

Develops a Maturity Model, identifies necessary enterprise-wide resources, training and education programs

Builds a diverse, high-performing, and receptive team to deliver against organizational priorities.

Provides skill development as the project management office evolves

PMO Management: Project Management Team

Builds a Project Management team that is diverse, high-performing, and receptive to delivering against organizational changes, goals, and priorities.

Develops Process, standards, tools, and deliverables that will enable the project management team to deliver successful projects while ensuring scalability and alignment with business objectives and strategic priorities

Manages the skills and career development of project managers

Hires, trains, onboards, and coaches project managers

Ensures trust, respect, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor s degree preferred, Advanced degree a plus; relevant experience can be submitted

A minimum of 10 years of experience in project and program management, with increasing levels of responsibility

7+ years proven ability to lead teams through change/transformation initiatives

Expertise in ability to lead, manage, support, and develop a team, and cultivate an equitable and inclusive atmosphere.

Experience in process development and project management principles leading to improved outcomes

Competencies:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Strategic and project planning expertise

Enterprise-wide experience in change management, priority setting and resource planning within a complex organization

Analytical and risk management/mitigation skills

Proven success and ability to establish or create a PMO within an organization

Strong systems orientation, with a track record of continuous improvement

Advanced proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint and project planning tools (i.e, SmartSheet)

Able to thrive in an evolving organization and culture, seeking to adopt new routines and systems

Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to build strong, collaborative relationships at all levels and with customer stakeholders and foster mutual trust and respect

Self-motivated and proactive, able to move work forward independently

Additional Qualifications:

(Such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

Project management certification (PMP) strongly preferred

Experience in a non-profit medical society a plus
