Overview

APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-Time Regular (FTR-A)

LOCATION: Ft. Belvoir, VA

*SALARY RANGE: $93,932 - $122,116/yr.

ELIGIBLE FOR SIGN-ON BONUS

The successful candidate will assist our customer in providing geospatial analysis to support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues, conducts advanced engineering research, and recommends alterations to development and design activities to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Prepares technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions, and conclusions of design and development efforts. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge on complex geospatial problem sets.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include supporting analysis and development of customer-driven technical geospatial analysis and solutions; providing technical guidance to support DTRA's mission.

    Design, develop, and integrate geospatial-centric workflows to support current modeling and algorithms within DTRA.
  • Perform assessment of geospatial libraries and datasets that include (LiDAR, imagery, DSM, vegetation, and vector data). This will include evaluating new technology, reviewing existing technology and implementing geospatial solutions.
  • Help guide present new innovative solutions and guide future mission requirements.
  • Interact and understand current data science and AI/ML principles and apply to geospatial- based solutions.

  • Collaborate with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance.
  • Apply science to support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
  • Resolve highly complex technical issues, conducts advanced engineering research, and recommends alterations to development and design activities in order to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions, and conclusions of design and development efforts.
  • Work on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Test Engineering, Structural Engineering, Biological Engineering, Process Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Seismic/Acoustic Engineering, and Aeronautical Engineering.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Engineering or related field and 5 to 8 years of experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

  • Demonstrated success in engineering programs or projects
  • TS Clearance or ability to receive a TS clearance, SCI eligible
  • Serves as a technical/scientific resource to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) on projects, analyzing problems and applying theoretical techniques to develop solutions that measure, evaluate, define, mitigate the nuclear survivability of US systems and equipment

*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
