ABC Care inc. is one of the largest before and after school childcare programs in Maryland with 13 centers located in Carroll County and one in Baltimore County. Because of our split schedule, we are able to offer flexible hours in the morning or the late afternoon throughout the school year. Our positions can accommodate individuals looking for full time employment and those needing part time due to college or high school class schedules.

ABC Care offers great positions for those individuals entering the field of education or who are currently working in the school age environment.

Job Summary:

The School Age Childcare Teacher in a school-age program is responsible for planning and implementing an enriching program for the children. In addition to ensuring the safety of each child, the School Age Childcare Teacher is expected to provide a warm, comfortable environment, which reflects ABC Care"'s philosophy regarding school-age childcare. The School Age Childcare Teacher should be capable of managing a group of children unsupervised when necessary.

Job Responsibilities:
Develop relationships with staff, children, families and host school
Develop age-appropriate lesson plans
Knowledgeable in problem solving and conflict resolution techniques and the process of teaching these concepts to children
Work directly under the supervision of either an Assistant Director or Director
Assist in setting up the center's daily activities
Engage in meaningful conversations with children
Work towards creating an environment where children are accepted, and differences are appreciated

Qualifications:
Age 19 years or older
High School Diploma or GED
Willing to take CPR and First Aid class
Willing to take college courses (if necessary to become School Age Child Care Teacher (SACCT) qualified)
Willing to take continuing education classes
Must be able to bend at a 45-degree angle, must be able to lift 30 lbs, must be able to twist body both left and right, must be able to sit on the ground and get up successfully without assistance of another person, must be able to squat, must be able to stand a minimum of 4 hours, must be able to walk up and down stairs.
Having a driver's license to be able to get from one center to another in a timely manner is preferred.
One 3-credit class (45 clock hours) on child development
One 3-credit class (45 clock hours) on school age level curriculum
One of the following:

o 400 hours or more of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a licensed center, public or private school or in recreation and parks or similar setting; or

o one year of college; or

o A combination of college and experience that equal one year
