Senior Corporate Purchasing Manager

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:


Day to day management of all corporate purchasing related systems, pre-start processes, manufactured product, and distribution of product with a primary focus on high level divisional support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides extensive support to the division purchasing teams through system and process expertise in the current systems. (New Star;1440; BuildPro; SupplyPro; HUB; RebatePro).
  • Manage the overall rebate tracking, invoicing, and allocation of all rebate funds
  • Assist Division Purchasing teams with New Star system set-ups; includes subcontractor management, plan, community, option, parts and bid rate set ups.
  • Onboarding training on request for new division purchasing team members
  • Acquisition system build for any new divisions created (whether through acquisition or organic new market growth)
  • Work with any new acquisition group as point person for DRB purchasing in a training, mentoring and coaching capacity
  • Manage option, parts and bid rate requests through the HUB with direct consultation of VP of Purchasing from request to plan association and contracting.
  • Track and publish commodity market data for lumber, plastics, steel, aluminum, copper, fossil fuels and others.
  • Manage monthly Purchasing meeting content and best practice review with direct consultation of VP of Purchasing.
  • Act as purchasing liaison with IT Support to offer report critiques and enhancements, provide New Star update critiques reviews as necessary and proto beta testing.
  • Provide detailed end user critiques and suggestions for HUB reporting
  • Take point position for any new ERP/system opportunities on behalf of the DRB corporate and division purchasing teams
  • Directly supervise Corporate Purchasing Specialists, Generalists and Agents.
    • This would include but are not limited to long term goal setting, implementation, and tracking of said goals
    • Annual supervisory reviews
    • Management of schedules and outputs
    • Day to day employee management as appropriate and normal
  • Other corporate duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle complex situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy, discretion and professionalism
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of software applications in word processing, database, presentation software and spreadsheets (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Detailed spreadsheet creation and manipulation is required
  • Must display a high level of multiple business reporting understanding, creation, evaluation and management
  • Expert level experience with New Star, BuildPro and 1440 is required
  • Experience with RebatePro is preferred
  • Work will be carried out in Rockville, MD
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing complex financial materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Must have valid driver s license for business travel

Education/Work Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in business management, construction management or equivalent education and work experience
  • 3-5 years of previous experience within the residential homebuilding industry is required
  • 3 years of Division/Corporate purchasing experience required
