Job description

The Columbus Torah Academy in Columbus, Ohio (www.torahacademy.org) is seeking a dynamic individual to teach 4th grade for the 2024-2025 academic year. CTA, accredited by ISACS, an independent, co-educational, K-12, college-preparatory Jewish day school dedicated to developing educated, contributing, active, aware members of contemporary American and Jewish societies. The open position is for a full-time 4th grade teacher, with benefits. Columbus Torah Academy Lower School has approximately 140 students (grades K-6). Our classes are small, and our teachers enjoy getting to know their students well and providing differentiated instruction.


Full-time

  • Plan and deliver instruction based on Common Core Curriculum and Ohio State Standards while using the most efficient and effective methodology for students' success
  • Develop and administer assessments that are research-based and are for evaluation of student competency and mastery and ultimately for student success
  • Provide student feedback and ensure student mastery of objectives
  • Collaborate and clearly communicate with parents/guardians, instructional staff, school personnel and community partners for improving the overall quality of student outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
  • Establish classroom objectives and create a warm, caring, and nurturing environment for all students
  • Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment by implementing the school's positive behavior management model within the class environment
  • Demonstrate and differentiate methods of instruction that address individual learning styles and needs
  • Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards
  • Identify and work toward your own professional goals under the coaching un an instructional leader (principal or coach)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field
  • Current Ohio certification/licensure in appropriate teaching area or eligible for licensure within academic school year preferred
  • Relevant experience as an elementary school teacher, reading specialist, or math specialist
  • Knowledge of Ohio State Standards and Common Core Standards
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively prioritize and execute tasks
