JOB INFORMATION
The Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence has been providing services and programs to older adults and their families for over 40 years. POSITION DETAILS: Non-exempt; part-time; up to 20 hours per week; varied scheduled during normal business hours of Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; position is subject to system-wide reassignment
This position will deliver meals to homebound recipients and will also assist with kitchen duties and other center programming and services for the Senior Services Division. Supervision is received from the Senior Center Supervisor and/or Home and Community Connections Director.

Keep daily records of route, mileage and other statistics
Regularly perform routine cleaning and fueling of the vehicle(s) and daily maintenance check-list
Notify the proper person of any vehicle problems
Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Center including kitchen duties and dining room clean up
Assist with implementation of home delivered meals (e.g. packaging, serving and clean-up)
Deliver packaged meals to the homebound as needed
Assist Senior Center staff when necessary
Comply with all Federal, State and County regulations and policies
Perform other related duties as required
OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED UNDER "FULL" OPERATIONS:
Operate a County vehicle to safely transport passengers to and from a senior center for meals and programs
Assist passengers as they board and depart the vehicle
Transport and escort passengers on shopping and other trips, assisting with packages as needed
Assist with the implementation of Center and Department programs
Assist with the coordination of activities and events with other senior-oriented agencies and organizations

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The qualifications/requirements, knowledge/skills/abilities and physical requirements or working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
High school graduation or the equivalent
1 year of work experience driving a van or similar vehicle
Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, or the ability to become certified within 6 months of hire
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
Accurate clerical skills in order to properly complete required forms and reports
Ability to understand and follow written and spoken (English) instructions and travel directions
Ability to effectively respond to emergency situations and follow proper procedures
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public, with particular sensitivity to the needs and priorities of persons who are elderly
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
Work experience transporting passengers
Experience working with persons who are elderly
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly reach; frequently sit, walk, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and drive; occasionally stoop; and rarely crawl
While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently work indoors and outdoors, walk on uneven ground, work in a dirty environment, and near chemicals or fumes; occasionally work in hot temperatures (above 100 degrees), cold temperatures (below 32 degrees), and is required to wear protective equipment
Physical requirements include the ability to assist passengers as they board and depart the vehicle; to lift and carry groceries and other parcels as needed; and to perform minor upkeep and maintenance of assigned vehicles
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / EXAMINATION PROCESS
Available for varied schedule, dependent on the needs of Center schedule or other activities which may include evening hours
This position is subject to random drug testing
EXAMINATION PROCESS (may include):
1) An evaluation of training and experience 2) One or more interviews 3) A pre-employment background investigation through public records search 4) A pre-employment physical examination and drug test
Position is not eligible to receive benefits with exception to the 457 Plan as listed below.
