Job Description
Intake/Scheduler Medical Assistant for Mobile Wound Healing serves as the initial point of contact for patients seeking wound care services. Mobile Wound Healing delivers wound care services at patients' residences inclusive of their homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and Independent Living Facilities. This role involves responding to referrals sent via email, fax, and phone, verifying benefits and eligibility and assisting with scheduling initial visit.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Intake Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and mobile wound care teams, facilitating the intake process and coordinating scheduling of appointments. Collect pertinent demographic information, insurance details, and referral documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records.
2. Referral Management: Receive and process referrals from healthcare providers, case managers, and community agencies for patients requiring mobile wound care services. Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and coordinate necessary documentation to expedite the referral approval process.
3. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all patients, documenting intake assessments, referrals, communications, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations, confidentiality standards, and organizational policies governing health information management. Sending out documentation to home health agencies, Assisted living facilities and to primary care physicians.
Qualifications:
Possession of associate degree in medical assisting or medical associate certification from an accredited medical assistant program; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
At least 1 year previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably in wound care, home health, or a related field, is desirable.
Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical documentation.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing patient needs and clinical environments.
