Savage has been designated by USA Today as a Top Workplace and also received recognition as a Military Friendly Employer and a Top Company for Women to Work For in Transportation.Savage Services, an established supply chain solutions company, is seeking a Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Manager to provide strategic direction and execution of the safety, health, environmental and quality (SH&E) plan at Savage s rail and transloading operation in Lima, Ohio.These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage:A culture that appreciates our Team MembersPaid Time Off ( PTO ) and paid holidaysProfit SharingExcellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)Paid Parental and Uniformed Services leaveWhat You'll Be Doing:Assist with S7 development and annual operational self-assessments with focused efforts in the areas of team, SH&E, Planning and Productivity, and ProfessionalismCoach, develop, guide, and mentor team members to reflect the Savage safety cultureWork with the engineering department to ensure current and future facilities are designed with safety in mind and meet industry standards and regulationsProfessional collaboration with Operations Managers, customers, vendors, and others with a vested interest on all safety related issuesWork with all team members to develop and deliver procedural and regulatory trainingMonitor and trend safety statistics in the operation and advise and implement corrective actions that lead to zero occurrencesEstablish a proactive SHE&Q process towards incident preventionKnowledgeable proficient with regulatory compliance requirementsLead post-accident investigations and work with managers to develop strong return-to-work programs for the operationWhat You Need to Be Successful:In-depth knowledge in the transportation and storage of petroleum products and other hazardous chemicals; emphasis on rail, pipeline and crude storageProven ability to analyze situations and data to make sound decisionsComfortable in front of a group: whether it s training frontline team members or presenting a safety plan to a potential customerProficient in MS Office Suite with the ability to navigate Savage s internal reporting system for statistical analysisExcellent written communication skills for writing reports, trainings, proposals and more (writing must be concise and exact)Impeccable integrityDetail oriented and self-starterResponds well to high-pressure situationsA desire to work in the field, alongside operators, in an industrial environmentComfortable working in an industrial/refinery environment and the hazards that accompany it: exposure to all weather elements, climbing on top of and underneath railcars, lifting 40+ lbs., walking long distances on uneven ground and moreTreats people fairly with dignity and respectEmbraces and teaches company cultureCan travel on occasion and for extended periods of time (10%)Preferred Education / Experience:BA/BS in SH&E preferredMinimum of 3- 5 years as a safety professional in a refinery, oil and gas or another industrial environmentPreferred ASP or the ability to gain ASPExperience with industrial rail and transloading / chemical loadingPhysical Requirements:Commitment to working safely at all timesAbility to be exposed to the outdoor elementsPhysical fit to work with the team members in the operation and train them in their jobs and assignmentsClimb on and off railcars and locomotives safelyOperate railcar hand brakesOperate rail switchesWalk long distancesConsistently bend, stoop, kneel and climb on elevated surfacesWork, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of timeLift up to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the course of a shiftOperate basic hand toolsWear required PPEWilling to work different shifts and weekends as neededAbility to work/cover weekend duty periodicallyAdditional Information:A complete job description is available upon requestSavage is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains a drug-free workplaceCalifornia Residents Job Application Privacy Notice DetailsJob Family Skilled PlayerPay Type Salary
