Job description

JOB SUMMARY: : Provides individual and/or small group instruction for identified students with disabilities. Helps students manage behavior, identify goals, and make appropriate choices. Encourages parental involvement.

SALARY: Placement on the Springfield-Clark CTC Certified Salary Schedule and Benefits Package, starting salary $47,176-$83,421 based upon education and experience. Contract consists of 183 days currently per school year.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Helps formulate and guide the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students meeting eligibility requirements. Works with staff to ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment.

* Complies with state model policies and procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability.

* Creates effective learning experiences. Organizes and prepares teaching materials consistent with students Individualized Education Plan.

* Collaborates with other teachers. Share knowledge and resources that enhance student learning.

* Evaluates the needs of students based on all available information. Plans student interventions. Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.

* Evaluates student performance and consults with parents/guardians as needed.

* Implements effective student management procedures. Maintains standards and upholds student code of conduct in a safe, positive learning environment.

* Collaborates with staff to implement behavior improvement plans. Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct. Charts behavior as required. Promotes favorable image of the school district.

* Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Education, Superintendent, or Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

* A current Ohio teacher's license or certificate appropriate for the assignment.

* A record free of criminal violation that would prohibit public school employment. Must pass a BCI/FBI background check.

* Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment.

* Meets all mandated health requirements and complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.

* Training in behavioral management techniques.
