Inventory Specialist

Job description

The Inventory Specialist (IS) will initiate and conduct inventories for supply management, inventory management, storage management, cataloging, and property utilization in support of Alutiiq Information Management's (AIM) IMAP contract and Department of State Government Funded Equipment (DoS (GFE). The IS will perform (but not limited to) and/or support analysis and coordination of inventories to establish proper accountability, inspection of materials, acquisition, distribution, allocation, and correct deficiencies. The IS will partner with Logistics' functional areas for planning, implementation, and integration of government shipping requirements, including details of security and hazmat. The Inventory Specialist will integrate separate functions in planning or implementation in a logistics management program, as applicable. Below is a brief description (not limited to) of the roles and responsibilities:

Role and Responsibilities

* Maintains and analyzes databases of logistics information, orders, shipping status, delivery status, inventory, through multiple technology platforms

* Interpret data on logistics elements: availability (inventory), supply chain management, distribution, and transportation

* Monitor inventory transactions at warehouse facilities to assess receiving, storage, shipping, or inventory integrity

* Shipping of equipment utilizing unsecured commercial means, unsecured and secured pouch

* Tracking and receipt of all shipped/incoming packages, providing initial quality control regarding accuracy of materials and annotating storage location

* Communicate with/or monitor service providers, such as, ocean carriers, air freight forwarders, and customs brokers, DHL, FedEx, UPS, State Department Diplomatic Pouch Services

* Oversees property hand receipt program for materials issued to authorized personnel and saves documents to appropriate electronic locations

* Create, document and communicate shipping plans for shipments and receivables, including funding and expediting as well as rates and schedules

* Manages IMAP calibration program for tools and test equipment. Initiates quality and integrity checks for accuracy, consistency, and maximum usability for all equipment and PPE

* Creates and executes statistical activity reports (weekly, monthly, and quarterly)

* Supports and represents logistics management program for new employee orientation

* Program's POC for cell phone issuance and vendor support liaison

* Other duties as assigned

Deliverables may include:

* Daily order tracking status for a variety of records

* Weekly Inventory Log

* Monthly Inventory Log

* Program equipment shipping status

* Other duties as assigned to fulfil contract requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* High school diploma

* Minimum 3-5 years progressive experience in logistical operations and/or supply-chain management

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, at minimum.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

* Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite

* Experience with inventory management programs and software

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Excellent organizational skills

* Ability to multi-task, and function in a fast-paced environment, meeting quick turnaround deadlines

* Self-Starter and strong team collaboration abilities

* Knowledge in government supply-chain management, logistics functions and DoS shipping and transportation

* General understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)

Typical Pay/Range: $75,000 - $85,000 depending on experience
