Job Title: Controller

Location: Washington, D.C.

Compensation: Up to $165K base + bonus


The Kostelic Agency, in partnership with a prominent force in the services industry, is excited to announce a job opportunity for a Controller.


Our client, one of the fastest-growing service companies in the nation, is seeking a Controller to join their team. They have a strong foothold in their industry and have seen remarkable organic and inorganic growth. They exceeded their FY2023 revenue projections of $2B, and this year, FY2024, they are projected to reach $2.5B in annual revenues.


This is a pivotal role in shaping our clients accounting organization and collaborating with senior leadership. This position requires a blend of leadership, technical skill, and a hands-on approach to managing accounting functions. You'll be at the forefront of automating financial reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance, and leading the year-end audit process.



This role reports to the VP of Accounting, who boasts an impressive background in public accounting, including a tenure as a Senior Manager at a Big 4 firm. Additionally, the role will be supported by the CFO, who has a remarkable background in Investment Banking and Private Equity. Both will provide guidance and mentorship, fostering your growth in the role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all accounting activities, including AP/AR, inventory, payroll, and month-end processes.
  • Automate and ensure 99.5% accuracy in financial reporting in line with GAAP, and make it audit-ready.
  • Manage cash effectively with robust internal controls.
  • Oversee robust monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and general ledger analyses.
  • Lead integration of acquisitions into accounting systems.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls, coordinate with external auditors, and assist in budget planning.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and process improvements, prepare analytical presentations, and lead various ad-hoc projects.


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of accounting experience, public accounting foundation preferred.
  • Bachelor's in accounting, master s degree a plus. Active CPA license preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting.


Desired Experience:

  • Proven leadership in accounting processes.
  • Experience in team development and organization.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct and ERP implementations beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Highly motivated, independent, and results-driven, with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
