Global Communications Manager

Job description

Job Title: Global Communications Manager

Location: Washington DC (remote or hybrid options available upon consultation candidates from other states are welcome to apply). Onboarding will be in person.

Working hours: Full time (40 hours per week)

Reporting to

VP of External Affairs.

Role:

Collaborate with the Executive Management Team and global teams in Brussels, Delhi, Beijing, and Singapore to build and manage a comprehensive communications strategy. Develop content that supports the global activities of the trade association and its members. Position Methanol Institute (MI) as the authoritative source for information about the use of methanol as a sustainable fuel and chemical, including developing online strategies to amplify messaging that raises awareness of methanol.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and when necessary, update MI's global communications strategy.

Create and post engaging content regularly across various platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Collaborate with MI s global team to support content development for MI s China WeChat page.

Monitor global news sources and social media channels for the latest developments and news about methanol.

Prepare detailed reports on communication activities and analyze performance metrics to guide future strategies.

Manage and optimize paid media campaigns to increase reach and engagement.

Regularly update and maintain MI s website (www.methanol.org) using WordPress, ensuring content is current and relevant.

Oversee the day-to-day management of MI s website and work with external web developers on larger projects as needed.

Assist in developing, designing (including photography), and publishing collateral materials such as newsletters, reports, fact sheets, infographics, technical bulletins and PowerPoint presentations.

Manage engagement with freelance graphic designers and Tableau content developers.

Manage one or more communications interns.

Create and share weekly and monthly newsletters to keep members and stakeholders informed and engaged.

Responsible for creating and distributing press releases for new association members.

Compile and publish the annual Methanol Milestones report, highlighting significant achievements and progress.

Organize and set up webinars and virtual events to engage and inform stakeholders.

Be hands-on in executing tasks and supporting the team in day-to-day operations.

Representing MI at events or meetings.

Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.

3-5 years proven experience in communications management and digital marketing.

Strong knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools.

Proficiency in using WordPress for website management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent (native or near-native) command of English.

Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment.

Strong analytical skills and experience with social media analytics tools.

Experience with paid media campaigns and managing budgets.

Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Good command of graphic design software (specifically Adobe InDesign/Creative Suite, and Photoshop, Canva) is a strong advantage

Familiarity with the energy sector or chemical industry is a plus.

Experience in setting up and organizing webinars.

Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
