We have current openings for Technical Writing and Data Collection support in the Baltimore, Maryland office to assist in the small Unmanned Surface Vessel (sUSV) program s Sustainment efforts.

Primary responsibilities

The Technical Writer/Data Collector role is an on-site position responsible for supporting efforts within the Small Unmanned Surface Vessel (sUSV) program dedicated to technical writing. Daily tasks include:

Technical Writing

  • Format sUSV maintenance and operations procedures to fulfill customer requirements as part of Sustainment efforts with direction from the Lead Technical Writer
  • Create procedural outlines for a Data Collector to ensure detailed and customer-required content is gathered in a useable manner for technical writing
  • Ensure scheduled contractual milestones are met

Data Collection

  • Communication with sUSV technicians
  • Collection of detailed procedural content as outlined by the Technical Writers
  • Organize data collected in digital format for Technical Writer accessibility
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met as outlined by the Lead Technical Writer

Candidates should expect to occasionally participate in on-site technical support for delivered products. Typical travel is < 10% and within the United States.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills desiring a career in the maritime industry and willing to work as part of a fast-paced team. A positive attitude, trainability, and competency to follow instructions are essential. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and must be able to pass a background check. The candidate must be able to acquire and hold a SECRET level government clearance, if required.

Required

Experience with technical writing (formatting, content collection, organization)

Experience with data collection as it pertains to technical writing and procedures

Experience with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, PPT) and Adobe programs

Team-oriented with the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment

High standards & a commitment to a high level of workmanship

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks

Schedule-oriented

Excellent communication skills

Preferred but not required

Experience with Adobe Framemaker

Familiarity with boat operations and mechanics

Flexibility of working hours to coordinate with sUSV shop technician tasks

Active SECRET level government clearance
