Human Resources Director, Non-Profit, Washington, DC, Hybrid, Direct Hire Opportunity

Robert Half is servicing a reputable non-profit organization in Washington, DC looking for a permanent Human Resources Director. The ideal candidate will act as an employee champion and a leader of change. You will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and guidance by overseeing talent acquisition, employee career development, succession planning, retention programs, training and leadership development
  • Function as a strategic, human capital business advisor to the senior management team
  • Develop initiatives, policies and programs to complement existing practices and create consistency across the organization
  • Oversee benefit and compensation plans to ensure cost efficiencies and attractiveness to retain top talent
  • Strategically rethink the system of regular staff performance evaluations, from organizational competencies to feedback, and day to day manager/supervisee utilization, guiding the incorporation of the process into HRIS system, and provide guidance to managers to enhance the effectiveness of the evaluation process
  • Collaborate with CFO and COO on compensation and benefits philosophy, including annual benefits selection and open enrollment process, and serve as back up to People Department Senior Manager on bi-weekly payroll run as needed
  • Own HR department budget, manage contracts, as well as direct responsibility for invoice and reimbursement oversight and approvals
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for collective bargaining unit, including direct involvement in any formal grievance processes according to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Provide advice to management on labor laws, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and fairness
  • Serve as the company's spokesperson in meetings with union representatives to review and respond to cases involving claims, grievances, and discipline appeals
  • Cultivate a strong partnership with the union at all levels
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with any collective bargaining agreements in effect

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HR experience with 1 year as a manager or above
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in labor relations, collective bargaining, HR Compliance and HR Policy formulation
  • Demonstrable experience in Benefits Administration and Compensation & Benefits
  • Ability to develop and implement HR Strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Strong skills in Performance Management and employee evaluation
  • Experience operating within a collective bargaining agreement environment
