Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Comprehensive Evaluations: Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose patients.
- Treatment and Management: Diagnose and treat a range of mental health disorders, including substance abuse and intellectual disabilities.
- Collaborative Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in coordination with a multidisciplinary team.
- Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Medication Management: Oversee medication management, prescribing appropriate psychotropic medications based on patient needs.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with therapists, counselors, and other healthcare professionals to provide cohesive care.
- Continuous Education: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in psychiatric research and treatment modalities.
- Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous and accurate medical records in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Ethical Practice: Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines in the provision of patient care.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and available resources.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) license in Virginia. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or substance abuse disorders.
- DEA Certification: Must possess an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate.
- Driver s License: Valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, and the ability to provide personal transportation are required.
