Cenovus is looking for a Credit Analyst located at our Dublin, OH office. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit & Counterparty Risk this individual contributor will work alongside the Sr Analyst who will provide direct mentorship and support with managing credit risk by proactively monitoring exposure, participating in deal structuring and mitigation strategies, negotiating collateral and credit language within contracts, and indirectly responsible for collections, ensuring credit exposures are within approved limits.

What you'll do:

  • Identify key risks by performing analysis of financial statements and other information to approve and recommend internal credit ratings, limits, and terms for counterparties within the U.S. Refined Product Segment, primarily originating from the Superior, Lima, and Toledo refineries.
  • Identify, recommend, and negotiate financial assurances to mitigate credit risks.
  • Monitor compliance to approved credit limits by identifying and reporting credit policy deviations including over-limit situations and take required actions to address over-limit situations through daily breach reporting.
  • Build strong working relationships with key partners including but not limited to Accounting, Marketing, Logistics, Customer Services, Legal, and with External Counterparties.
  • Assist in negotiations of the credit-related aspects within Contracts and Collateral Agreements.
  • Work with other internal functions to ensure the Counterparty onboarding process runs smoothly and ensure systems and master data setup are complete, assist with collections and dispute issues, and report on collection KPIs.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 2+years of relevant credit or related work experience


Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance, Accounting, or other related field
  • Energy industry
  • Banking experience
