Job Overview

This position is located at Ft. Detrick MD.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as the Senior Program Officer, 711 HPW Medical Advanced Development Office (ADV).
  • Provides comprehensive support and execution of the Air Force Surgeon General's Medical Research Development Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) priorities; executes programs for modernizing medical capabilities to address the challenges of operational and peacetime health care and for the joint warfighter through state-of-the-art technological solutions in support of Air Force and Space Force Operations.
  • Air Force representative to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Joint Acquisition Enterprise. Assigns work to team members, establishes and adjusts priorities, leads or delegates IPT responsibilities for AF and Joint projects.
  • Provides technical leadership in planning, analyzing, and evaluating developmental efforts to address medically related user requirements.
  • Provides oversight of the ADV Portfolio by performing analysis of program cost, schedule, performance, risks. Adapts developmental efforts to maximize commercial viability and assists in the fielding medical capabilities by addressing logistical considerations as well as DoD acquisition and Food Drug Administration regulatory processes.
  • Supports all Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution (PPBE) phases and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) planning to ensure funding is aligned to the AFMS top RDT&E priorities. Serves as the ADV lead to the AFMS innovation ecosystem, which serves as a comprehensive resource for stakeholders, Airmen/Guardians, academic institutions, businesses, and others proposing innovative medical ideas.
  • Supports 711 HPW and AFMS Innovation/CPI efforts including evaluating innovative ideas (i.e. SBIR/STTRs), developing process maps and capabilities pathways for innovative technologies, prepares documentation of innovative processes, and communicating with stakeholders in the Innovation ecosystem, i.e. AFMED/SGS, AFWERX, AF Futures, MAJCOMs.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • 1 year experience at the DO-02 or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of recent (within last 10 years) experience with Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation programs
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant S&E field
  • Experience with Medical Device S&T Programs
  • Advanced academic degree from an accredited college/university in the relevant S&E field
  • Experience in a Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation organization
  • Practitioner APDP certification in Engineering & Technical Management (ETM), Test and Evaluation (TE), or Program Management (PM) or Equivalent experience
  • PMP equivalent within 2 years
