*The Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Health Program Specialist within the University of Maryland's Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the UMB campus.*The position will support the implementation of a statewide child mental health access program, and will provide care coordination for children and adolescents./Please note: While this position will involve direct contact with families the candidate will not provide treatment./ UMB offers acomprehensive benefits packagethat prioritizes wellness, work/life balance, and professional development. Exempt regular staff receive a generous leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, paid holidays, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job). *PRIMARY DUTIES:* * Conducts complex care coordination of pediatric patients following discharge from hospital for mental health crises. * Facilitate communication among emergency department professionals, primary care providers, mental health specialists, and pediatric patients and their families. * Maintain and update statewide resource and referral database, including information on treatment modalities, current wait times, accepted health insurance plans, and updated contact information. * Provide direct care coordination mental health services and consultation to children, adolescents, and families post emergency room discharge through a telepsychiatry access program. * Coordinate referrals for patients to outpatient psychotherapy, psychological evaluations, psychiatry, early childhood intervention, and/or substance use treatment and maintains communication with specialists. * Track and document clinical information according to program protocols in collaboration with supervisor, Program Director, and Consultants. * Establish and maintain personal contact with other social service agencies and community resources and maintain/update a database of resources statewide in order to provide referral support. * Assist in the conceptualization, development, and preparation of documents such as standard operating procedures, informed consent forms, case report forms, as well as training materials, website content, and promotional materials. * Coordinate referrals for patients to outpatient psychotherapy, psychological evaluations, psychiatry, early childhood intervention, and/or substance use treatment and maintains communication with specialists. * Evaluate presenting concerns and identify clinically appropriate mental health, substance use, and community resources. * Facilitate sharing of records in compliance with all state and federal guidelines. * Provide solutions to issues and judgment outside of pre-established guidelines or processes. * Coordinate program development and implementation that require significant assessment, evaluation, and intervention utilizing best practice/promising practice models. * Develop and maintain relationships with other health care professionals and families of patients as they partner to create a network of supportive services needed for patients to be successful. * Develop and schedule program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations in order to shape the program. * Oversee daily operations; organize program activities; and set priorities. * Collect, maintain, and facilitate program data in compliance and with programmatic reports required by sponsors. * Provide routine and non-routine technical advice, problem solving assistance, and answer questions. Interpret program goals and policies, and provide administrative support to the program team. * Recommend resources for the improvement of the program. * Perform other duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor's degree in a health related field. Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field preferred. *Experience:*Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare field. Experience in program planning, coordination or training is required. Experience in community programming, coordination, development, oversight, or administration is preferred. *Certification/Licensure:*Appropriate state licensure may be required as defined based upon the nature of the program. LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LCSW-C preferred. *Other:*Related healthcare experience to program may be substituted for education. *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:* Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
