Job Description

The Trauma Survivors Network Coordinator combines state of the art patient services with ongoing professional support to achieve improved outcomes for patients with traumatic injuries. Conducts education for the orthopedic trauma community about TSN program and TCCI activities. Coordinates the development and ongoing management and facilitation of support and education programs for the trauma patients and families. Coordinates the development, ongoing management and facilitation of support and education programs for trauma patients and their families. Promotes the development and implementation of the Trauma Survivor's Network (TSN) to ensure access to quality mental health services for trauma patients and their families.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts brief intervention counseling sessions with trauma patients to address psychosocial needs and facilitate therapeutic recovery from trauma.
  • Conducts mental health assessments to include screening for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Determines mental health diagnoses as appropriate, provides community-based resources and helps eliminate psychosocial barriers to healing from trauma.
  • Conducts education for the orthopedic trauma community about TSN program and study activities via staff meetings, in-services, meetings with providers, discharge rounds, and other venues.
  • Coordinates the development and ongoing management and facilitation of support and education programs for the trauma patients and families.
  • Continues to develop the peer visitation program, ensuring high quality volunteer participants and ensuring a positive outcome is had by both parties.
  • Coordinates the development and ongoing management of trauma support groups bringing together relevant and current outside resources as available.
  • Conducts education for the trauma healthcare provider community about the TSN program and available activities via staff meetings, in-services, meetings with providers, discharge rounds, and other venues.
  • Develops and consistently revises customized marketing and informational materials Expand the TSN's reach within the community via outreach activities.
  • Accurately tracks and presents monthly progress reports detailing programmatic activities. Promotes the development and implementation of the coaching activities. Promotes the development and implementation of the TSN, including customizing marketing and informational materials (online and print).
  • Educates hospital providers regarding the program, and builds a network of providers and survivors who work together to provide TSN services for patients and families.
  • Conducts Recovery Assessment with all study participants and provides structured feedback, in coordination with treating surgeon. Provides ongoing recovery coaching to participants meeting criteria. Meets all TCCI study participants in the hospital and provides follow up phone contacts prior to return visit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Additional Requirements

Certification - Basic Life Support - Upon StartLicensure - N/AExperience - 3 years post-Master's experience in a medical or clinical settingEducation - Master's Degree Social Work (MSW) or Master's in mental health-related field
