About the Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Finance Business Intelligence Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination, management and administration of the Financial Planning and Reporting system that supports the following: Responsibility Plan Variance, Organizational Profitability, External Regulatory, Investor and other Internal Management Reports. Creates and reconciles data and reports related to the financial plan and actual results. Works to maximize reporting and process efficiency throughout the finance department. Responsible for design and maintenance of bank-wide financial reporting dashboards. Insures that our systems are in compliance with industry wide database management and generally accepting accounting principles.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Financial Systems Administration
    • Oversee & manage administration of various financial systems including Longview, Empyrean, Lease Query, Profit Stars, Sageworks, Workiva, etc. Responsible for documentation of the systems processes and requirements and actively administers the system. The analyst will also be a key liaison between Finance and IT for successful delivery of projects and will be accountable for operational support of financial systems. Will also develop, coordinate, and implement test plans for functional changes, bug fixes, enhancements, patches and upgrades to financial systems.

  • Process Improvement
    • Responsibilities include the review of current system processes and process/system improvement recommendations. Identifies more efficient alternatives to produce reports and integrate data. Partners with support departments to deliver accurate data in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Data Management
    • Develops and Maintains BIC programs to download data from FIS (G/L and CRM) as required. Creates and maintains various reports uploaded to various bank systems. Reviews data transfers for reasonableness and reviews against known control points.

  • Data & Financial Analysis
    • Develops and maintains complex reports and analysis to support various business lines and ALCO committee requests. Develops and maintains Peer reporting, branch analysis, incentive reporting, scorecards, and various other ad-hoc requests.

  • Reporting
    • Responsible for oversight of the production of timely, accurate and effective reports which support analytics for decision making and control reviews. Collaborates with other areas of Finance regarding routine work and ad hoc report requests. Develops and maintains bank-wide financial reporting dashboards.

  • Policies & Procedures
    • Develop and maintain appropriate change control and related procedures. This includes system maintenance and the processing steps to be taken each month to generate reports. Responsible for responding to various systems audit requests as appropriate.
  • Management
    • Trains and manages direct reports. Promotes the efficiency of the department through the maximum use of automated systems. Provide routine coaching, training and assistance for direct reports to develop knowledge, skills and abilities to maximize performance and potential. Document performance and complete performance review forms in a timely manner.


Required Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Position requires Bachelors Degree in Business or Information Systems with 3-5 years of experience in banking and with data warehouse or other data mining applications. Masters level course work or MBA a plus. Must possess a technical knowledge to include Intermediate Financial and Business Analytics. Experience with financial systems and profitability experience is preferred
  • Advanced technical knowledge of PC applications required, including ability to develop reports and applications in various operating systems, word processors, spreadsheets, databases and report writers. Must be able to troubleshoot problems with system applications.
  • Advanced problem solving skills are required in order to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources. Ability to work independently to solve systems issues in a time critical environment and communicate effectively with system users is essential.
  • Knowledge of FIS, BIC, and Financial Reporting and Profitability software systems is highly desirable.
  • Advanced technical skills including expertise in Microsoft Excel including visual basic and Access, as well as knowledge of database software, and general familiarity and comfort level with new technology. Will be required to lean Longview Application Framework coding. SQL programming experience is desirable.
  • Project management experience and organization skills are preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadline and with minimal supervision is assumed.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
