Position Overview:
The Chief Academic Officer for Moreland University is an experienced academic, product, and business leader who understands how to be customer-centric with a program and enrollment growth mindset. This role is for an experienced leader able to ensure candidate satisfaction and program quality via a strategic approach to building and growing an academic team in alignment with the major job responsibilities outlined below. The CAO understands how to connect across university departments such as marketing, admissions, candidate support, and operations to ensure all university stakeholders are fully aware of the program and academic offerings while leveraging these departments to advance program and market growth. This role reports to the University President and has a team of full-time staff and part-time faculty.This is a remote position, however this person may be expected to come in periodically to Moreland University for strategic planning sessions.
What You'll Do

Program Growth:

Lead and maintain an academic team with a focus on enrollment growth, candidate success, and program/product innovation
Build new program offerings to open new markets, with a focus on the U.S.
Design and innovate on a curriculum and program review cycle to verify the programs and content are relevant, applicable, aligned to educator needs in various markets, and on the cutting edge of innovation while driving deep engagement and Raving Fans
Maintain knowledge of competitor offerings with an eye towards continuous improvement in program and academic offerings
Academic Quality:

Ensure the highest quality content and user experience with current programs and validate this by instituting a metrics-driven approach to assessing candidate progress and satisfaction on a week-over-week basis
Maintains relationships with the needed educational experts, agencies, specialized professional associations, and various industry associations to be on the cutting edge of knowledge in the industry to contribute to program quality and growth
Monitor the candidate user experience in the learning platform and work closely with the IT/Engineering, eLearning, and design teams to continuously improve upon the platform experience
Lead and monitor an efficient, scalable system to ensure the highest quality teaching and learning practices are in place across the faculty, and metrics are collected and analyzed weekly for performance reviews and confidence candidates are having a best-in-class learning experience
Institutional Credibility: Leads and owns, in conjunction with the Senior Manager of Accreditation, the efforts of Moreland University relevant to academic and program accreditation and market expansion; includes leadership of Morelands DEAC and CAEP accreditation efforts as well as EPP and state expansion efforts via programmatic alignment to ensure candidates in all 50 states and internationally can access Morelands course and program offerings to advance their careers
In conjunction with the Senior Manager of Accreditation, ensure all programs and academic offerings are correctly aligned to all regulatory and accreditation requirements and meet individual state requirements aligned to teacher licensure and continuing professional education
Serve as a strategic, academic thought leader attending and speaking at conferences and writing and leading the creation of academic presentations and articles/papers that raise the credibility of Moreland University as a reliable thought leader in the global education industry
What You'll Need to Succeed

15-20 years of experience
Led academic and/or product teams in terms of program and curriculum growth as well as faculty development and oversight
Experience in a for-profit academic environment with the mindset of understanding how the program/product offerings accelerate market and enrollment growth
Knowledge and experience with the major role that academics and program knowledge have concerning regulatory and accreditation bodies such as DEAC, CAEP, and state departments of education relevant to licensure and program approvals
Experience working with program offerings for both a B2C and a B2B delivery model
Business and educational experience that demonstrates an understanding that Moreland is growth-focused to solve for the teacher shortage and attrition challenges
Doctoral or advanced degree preferred
