Position: Health Educator 2

Position Status: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: Pay grade starts at $21.90/hour. Salary will be reflective of education, credentials, and experience.

Scope: This position is responsible for programs and activities related to maternal

and child health, and preconception/interconception health awareness (Maternal Child Health

(MCH) Grant).

Essential Duties (including, but not limited to):

  • Grants / Program Management: may include grant writing (initial and renewal), completing required program and expenditure reports (quarterly, annual, and final, etc.), planning and implementing related activities, developing a budget, tracking expenses, monitoring program outcomes, maintaining program files, managing databases, ordering necessary supplies, and tracking inventory.
  • Conduct health education programs for individuals and groups. This includes coordinating the scheduling of events, registration, promotion and evaluation, data collection and topical research, preparing lesson plans, handouts and other educational materials, and making presentations.
  • Collaborates with staff members in performance of other programs and activities. This may include making presentations, collecting or sharing data, proof-reading of copy, writing articles, and attending meetings. Works as a team member on agency - sponsored programs and events such as flu clinics, health fairs, specialty clinics, etc. Assists with planning and implementation of new programs for the agency. Seeks additional funding (writing grants, requests donations) to support needed or requested programming.
  • Lead community groups and build partnerships related to key issues.
  • Driving to community meetings and trainings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Assist with ZMCHD's marketing and branding efforts by attending health fairs and special events, preparing displays for events, developing educational materials and working with the ZMCHD PIO and media.
  • Support and participate in accreditation and quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to ZMCHD policies and procedures. Practice dependable attendance habits.
  • Represent the department and agency favorably to the public. Adhere to the adopted ZMCHD customer service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, laws, and regulations as promulgated by regulatory agencies such as OSHA, Federal and State government.
  • Ensure compliance and work toward the mission of ZMCHD.
  • Maintain certifications and improve knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities.
  • Additional duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications: An appropriate combination of education, training, course work, and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, School/Community Health Education, Education, Communications, Environmental Health, Nursing, or other public health related field.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential preferred.
  • Preferred experience, training, and abilities in the following areas; grant/program management, preparing presentations, public speaking, group facilitation, community engagement, and partnership building.
  • The successful candidate will need to be highly detail oriented, organized, and dependable with demonstrated proficiency in computer, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License.
  • Non-tobacco user.
