Accounts Payable Staff Accountant

$75k perm role in Washington, DC

LHH seeks a AP Staff accountant for a leading investment firm managing and overseeing investments in mortgage loans, primarily focusing on the non-agency market.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This individual will be responsible for managing and executing all accounts payable and employee reimbursement activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, and maintaining vendor relationships. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of accounts payable processes.

Job Functions:

1. Process, verify, and reconcile invoices and employee expense reports in a timely and accurate manner.

2. Maintain up-to-date vendor files and payment records.

3. Prepare and perform check runs, electronic transfers, and payments.

4. Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and resolve invoice discrepancies.

5. Liaise with vendors and internal departments to resolve any issues related to accounts payable.

6. Assist in month-end closing procedures and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

7. Prepare analysis and reports related to accounts payable as required.

8. Implement and maintain systems, procedures, and policies to improve the accounts payable and expense reporting processes.

9. Coordinate with external auditors on relevant journal entries and other queries as they arise.

10. Assist with cash needs and work with fund admin team on daily wires for investment purchases.

Requirements:

1. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.

3. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.

4. Proficiency in NetSuite is a plus.

5. Experience in the finance or investment industry is a plus.

6.Ability to manipulate large amounts of data using excel

7.Experience with invoice allocations across various entities.

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
