Position Summary

Are you passionate about building and managing cutting-edge cloud solutions using Microsoft technologies? If so, you might be the perfect fit for our Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer role at The Carlyle Group.

As a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure with a focus on Azure and Microsoft 365. You will play a key role in cloud strategy, architecture, and security to ensure our cloud environment aligns with business goals and industry best practices.

To succeed in this role, you need to have extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, configuration, migration, and automation. You also need to have strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure services, identity management, security, and compliance. Additionally, you need to have excellent communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and robust cloud solutions using Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Manage and optimize Azure resources, including VMs, Azure Active Directory, and Azure SQL databases.
  • Configure and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Ensure cloud security by implementing proper access controls, network security groups, and firewalls.
  • Automate cloud deployments and configuration management using Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and ARM templates.
  • Monitor cloud performance, set up alerts, and respond to incidents to maintain high availability and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and promote DevOps best practices.
  • Oversee the administration of guest accounts and manage external collaborations within the Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring secure access and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide remediation guidance for Azure Identity and Access Management (IAM) to maintain compliance and address security vulnerabilities promptly.
  • Design and manage a portfolio of multiple Azure subscriptions, establishing best practices for governance, ensuring security isolation, billing separation, and effective resource organization.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior cloud engineers.
  • Stay current with the latest cloud technologies and trends and recommend improvements to our cloud strategy.
Qualifications

Education & Certificates
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert desired
  • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert desired
Professional Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a strong focus on Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Proven track record of deploying and managing cloud environments, particularly in Azure
  • Experience deploying Azure AI solutions using Azure OpenAI and other AI services
  • Experience with other Azure services such as Data Factory, Cognitive Services, Document Intelligence, Azure ML, O365 Microsoft Graph Connector a plus
Competencies & Attributes
  • Experience with AD Connect, Azure federation, and hybrid synchronization
  • Experience deploying and managing Intune mobile device management and Autopilot for Windows provisioning
  • Experience in designing and deploying infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions on Azure
  • Experience with Microsoft AD, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and GPO Management
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure services build and operations such as, Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts (Blob)
  • SSO application integration via SAML, OAuth, OIDC
  • Experience with management of device identities, conditional access policies
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and compliance standards
  • Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Azure CLI, PowerAutomate, Python, or similar technologies
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps Pipeline capabilities, leveraging CI/CD for efficient deployment of data systems and applications
  • Advanced source control skills with Git, including the use of GitHub features such as actions, and managing merged/pull requests. Experience in maintaining repositories for storing scripts, notebooks, and other code artifacts
  • Demonstrated ability using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) on the Azure platform to provision and manage cloud resources such as managed services, servers, databases, etc., with a focus on automation and scalability
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
  • Experience deploying and managing MS Copilot a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
