POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Senior Program Officer is a key member of the unit charged with managing the Fulbright Foreign Student Program in the Middle East and North Africa. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for student supervision caseload, a placement caseload of nominees, and supervision of an assistant and interns. The incumbent also will assume responsibilities that pertain to and require the involvement of the Fulbright unit. Therefore, the Senior Program Officer must be organized, diplomatic, and team-focused.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage a placement and supervision caseload of U.S. Department of State funded Fulbright students from the Middle East & North Africa in degree programs at U.S. universitiesManage a placement and supervision caseload of Higher Education Initiative funded Fulbright students from Egypt in degree programs at U.S. universitiesCommunicate with students, State Department, field offices, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Academic institutions, and other agencies concerning program-related mattersSupervise a Program Assistant and interns, and assign placement/supervision workloadForecast student costs and develop individual grant budgetsApprove grant payments and monitor student disbursementsConduct quarterly audits of student costs and reconcile accountsPrepare quarterly cost reports to Fulbright CommissionNegotiate admissions and financial aid opportunitiesPromote the Fulbright Program to U.S. academic institutions through campus visits, presentations, and other outreach effortsRepresent Fulbright and Amideast at U.S. professional conferencesLead the planning and operation of new nominee and pre-departure orientations for relevant countriesTravel domestically and/or to the MENA region to assist with selection and pre-departure/post nominations orientations (subject to availability of funds)Contribute to department s social media and web pagesContribute to program documents and manuals revisionsDraft statistical and narrative reportsContribute to refining program operations and proceduresQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:RequiredBA/BS requiredMinimum of 5-8 years experience in a student services environmentPrevious supervisory experienceExperience with J-1 exchange visitor programs and U.S. graduate admissionsAbility to maintain and organize a large amount of detailed information (ex: budgetary and student related information)Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independentlyPreferred

SALARY INFORMATION:Annualized salary of $63,000 payable on a bi-weekly basis of $2,423.08.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (on a hybrid basis).Computer (laptop)TelephoneUp to 5% business travel may be needed to support field office projects as needed.The physical demands and work environment that have been described is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
