Overview:

Assist Media Productions in leading the creation of video-based programming to support the Zoos mission and education-focused initiatives.

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is looking for an experienced, motivated media productions professional to support the creation of educational content supporting the Columbus Zoos mission: Empowering People. Saving Wildlife.



Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of video programming highlighting topics and programming as outlined by the Columbus Zoos Education team.
  • Edit finished programming of these topics under the guidance of the Zoos Media Productions and Education teams.
  • Assist in the creation of additional video elements to support programming as assigned by Media Productions.

Secondary responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Documentation of additional Education programming (Zoo Camp, Homeschool, Zoo Aids, Volunteers, educational events, etc.) for promotional needs.
  • Creation of additional media as assigned by the Media Production Team (b-roll comps, social media content, etc.) to support the Zoos Communications team.
  • Coverage of Columbus Zoo Family of Parks events and occasions as needed.
  • Assist in the digitization and archiving of the Zoos historical media.

Please note: This positions primary focus will be the creation of content in support of the Zoos educational programming. Animal documentation will be done on an as-needed basis with other Media Productions team members.



Qualifications:
  • An associates degree, or equivalent in communications, photography/videography or related program is preferred.
  • 3.0 or above accumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Advanced knowledge in video editing specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Solid understanding of video creation (video camera, sound gear, lighting, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of photo creation (still camera, flash, etc.).
  • Understanding of lighting, color, exposure, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work on a PC and MAC.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess the ability to research and communicate information effectively and accurately. A team player
  • A team player must possess courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures, including (but not limited to) safety protocols.
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Subject to Drug Free Workplace Policy

Physical Demands

  • Required to walk, sit and stand for periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and ice.
