So, what's the role all about?

The Director of Cloud Architecture defines the architecture of the public and private hybrid cloud infrastructure across the Nice inContact platform, supporting the Nice inContact suite of high-availability cloud offerings. In this position, architects manage, define, and communicate the processes and architectural standards for the Nice inContact platform. The Director of Cloud Architecture will frequently coordinate with software engineering and various architecture teams across the organization to ensure standards are resilient and supportable. This position ensures Nice inContact maintains its competitive edge by architecting, refreshing, testing, and implementing the best technology at the right time to support our 99.99% uptime & platform availability objectives.

The primary responsibility of this position is not just leading, but also developing, and mentoring a team of architects. This includes ensuring the architect role is clearly defined, architect standards and practices are established and followed, individuals are developed in the architecture career path, and architecture efforts are coordinated and aligned across the various work streams.

Your role as the Director of Cloud Architecture is crucial in ensuring the successful tactical implementation of deliverables. You will be responsible for designing the infrastructure with high availability, durability, serviceability, and supportability in mind, thereby contributing significantly to the company's success.

How will you make an impact?

  • Ensure proper levels of staffing to accomplish corporate goals with minimal overhead.
  • Ensure that the standards and practices used by Architects are industry best practices and meet the company's security and compliance needs.
  • The Director of Cloud Architecture is a key driver of NICE inContact's technological competitiveness. They provide technical and project leadership regarding the architecture of NICE inContact's platform, steering the company toward the correct technology at the correct time. They also set the vision and direction for infrastructure, ensuring that NICE inContact remains at the forefront of technological innovation.
  • Provide insight into technical designs to ensure solutions developed are consistent with strategic business plans.
  • Strategize and plan for future, imminent growth across all levels of the shared NICE inContact infrastructure, including SAN, IP network, systems, and public cloud compute and storage needs.
  • Drive documenting designs and architecture implementation for engineering teams to follow.
  • Ensure architecture includes monitoring and alerting.
Major Functions/Responsibility
  • Provides leadership in the design, development, delivery, and support of Nice inContact infrastructure.
  • Provides leadership in management and leadership behaviors, including senior-level communication skills and abilities consistent with the Nice inContact 4E leadership model.
  • Develop standards, practices, and procedures that assure consistent and replicable architecture methods.
  • Prioritize employee career development to grow Nice inContact's internal leadership talent pipeline.
  • Prioritize, assign, and manage architect activities and projects in accordance with the department's goals and objectives. Adjust hours of work, priorities, and staff assignments based on workload to ensure efficient operation.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and firing for the department.
  • Provides leadership on the Architecture Review Board, our governance body for all significant architecture decisions and standards.
  • Work with the product management team to define new architectural requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, etc....
  • Monitoring the architecture quality delivered by the architecture team through reviews and other processes.
  • Foster a strong teamwork environment and create passion and energy within the team.
  • Be an active participant in the development leadership team, ensuring corporate success.
  • Represents self and department with professionalism and competence.
  • Be a strong leader within the organization.
  • Always follow the company Code of Ethics and inContact policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers in and outside of inContact.
  • Maintain, monitor, and support a production infrastructure environment
  • Supports multiple systems or applications of medium to high complexity
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems such as backups, patching, application versions, etc.
  • Manage Mail, DNS, FTP, IIS, and Application environments
  • Set up and maintain server system and file security
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation
  • Work with cabling, racking, and other tasks in Physical Data Centers (Some Travel Will Be Required)Other duties as assigned by the hiring manager


Have you got what it takes?
  • 12+ years' experience working with data center physical and cloud-based virtual infrastructure, including network planning, compute, SAN, network, and systems.
  • 5+ years' experience working with AWS.
  • 5+ years of management experience, having worked with systems, network, and operations personnel as direct reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Prepared to consult with and update C-level executives on team projects.
  • Ability to meet and set short-term and long-term objectives for self and assigned team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and plans with well-reasoned decisions and minimal supervision.
  • High degree of computer literacy, fluent with Microsoft Office products
