The Human Spaceflight Staff Systems Engineer is responsible for leadership accountabilities & key SE deliverables as part of the SE Integrated Team at various program levels i. e. Mission-, Element-, Segment-level, including the direction and results of a multi-disciplined engineering development of the space system architecture & elements for flight program deliverables or new business concepts and proposals.In this role, the Human Spaceflight Staff Systems Engineer position is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead Spacecraft and/or Mission design and analysis efforts, Mission Operations and Ground Segment development, or Specialty Systems Engineering Analysis. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate instrument, spacecraft, ground segment, and mission technical issues while operating within budget and on schedule.Duties:Provide Systems Engineering Team leadership for engineers of various skill sets and years of experienceTasking assignments, deliverables review, timecard approvals, performance appraisal inputsPerform Cost Account Manager duties for Systems Engineering WBS, deliverables, and CPI & SPIInteract with the Program Management on all technical issues, risks, and deliverablesRisk Management for product line: Risk Board planning, conductance, minutes, and mitigationsServe as customer interface as necessary to ensure compliance to all contractual specifications, policies, and processesPlan and maintain the schedule for all internal and external design reviews and customer technical interchange meetings and formal reviewsLead and conduct formal program reviews as appropriateProvide technical review, assessments, and investigations as needed for the readiness and presentationsLead or participate in new business capture and proposal activities#NOVASPACEBasic Qualifications:Must be a US Citizen with a Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 14 years of relevant work experience or 12 years of relevant work experience with a Master's degreeFive or more years of technical or project leadership positionsAbility to lead a system engineering team to develop system requirementsAbility to develop and manage system interfaces to integrate multi-element systemsAbility to translate program objectives and customer requirements into system requirementsAbility to allocate requirements among multiple elements of an integrated space systemExperience with complex space mission CONOPS, navigation systems and orbit analysesExperience with space Mission OperationsPreferred Qualifications:Master s degree or higher in an Engineering or related fieldExperience with spacecraft design or Mission Operations for manned NASA Human Spaceflight missionsExperience with system engineering requirement tools (Cradle, CORE or DOORS) and processesExperience in requirements development and management processesExperience in development and maintenance of interface control documents and related processesExperience in space system testing and evaluation (flight and ground testing)Experience with various technical analysis tools such as MATLAB and STKExperience and/or training in Earned Value Management SystemsCompetencies: Space vehicle and/or space mission engineeringGuidance, Navigation, control, rendezvous modeling, analyses and simulationComplex space mission CONOPS, navigation systems and orbit analysesSalary Range: $165,000 - $247,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
